| Overseas nationals are permitted to come to Canada to study
on a full time basis.
Courses typically should involve at least 15 hours a week
study at an established educational institution. The individual must
also be able to meet the cost of the course, maintenance and
accommodation without any recourse to public funds. However,
Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations do allow a students
to work up to 20 hours per week in certain circumstances.
The Immigration
Professionals is
able to advise on the processes involved and prepare the relevant
paperwork for those individuals from visa-national countries who are
expected to apply for a student visa at the Canadian Embassy,
Consulate or High Commission in their home country.
Other
candidates have the option of presenting the relevant documents to
an Immigration Officer upon entry, or may apply from within Canada to switch from another category to that of
Student.
Student Permits are normally
either granted for an initial period of one year or for the duration
of the overall length of the individual’s intended course of study.
Candidates need to be chosen and/or accepted in a
course of study to apply for entry.
