Skilled Worker Program

This program allows highly skilled individuals to seek entry to work in Canada without having a prior offer of employment.

Program is a measure to provide an individual migration route for highly skilled persons who have the skills and experience required by Canada to compete in the global economy.

This is generally the primary route for gaining gaining permission to reside and undertake employment within Canada.

The skilled worker program operates on a points system and requires the applicant to provide evidence that they score at least 67 points.

KEY CRITERIA FOR ELIGIBILITY:

1. Educational Qualifications: Typically, qualifications considered acceptable are first degrees, Masters, or PhDs, there are also points awarded for college diplomas and trade schools;

2. Work Experience: Depending on the number of years experience up to a maximum of 21 points can gained for full-time work experience or the full time equivalent for part-time work experience, within 10 years of application;

3. Age of Applicant: A maximum of 10 points can be earned for applicants that are within 18-49 years of age; outside that range points will deducted;

4. Language Ability: a total of 16 points can be awarded for proficiency in either or both official languages of Canada;

5. Arranged Employment: For arranged employment in Canada in certain job categories 10 points will be awarded, certain;

6. Adaptability -  Individuals seeking to immigrate to Canada need to be adaptable to often varying conditions as compared to their last place of residence. Therefore points are awarded in various categories relating to spouse's education, previous Canadian education or work experience, a relative in Canada or arranged employment in Canada.
